A couple kneel before winged spirits, hoping that they will be judged kindly and accepted into their realm in the afterlife.
There is a trio of musicians, no doubt playing heavenly music while the transformation takes place. The Angels are both holding out crowns, so the couple have been accepted.
I often think of a courtroom when I see this card, and people judging other people is what's affected a short time of my day today. A very long story with colleagues believing they are judge and jury. I'm certain I've been judged myself and I've definitely judged one or two others!
Never thought of a courtroom, but that helps. I always have a hard time with meaning of Judgment vs. Justice.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting card. I notice in many modern decks that Judgement is portrayed more as re-birth or the opportunity for renewal. This deck is most definitely portraying it as a judgement though, and it sounds as if that fits well with your day. The mood of the card certainly makes you feel like the couple are awaiting their fate.
